The National Science Foundation's Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) is a large solar telescope managed by the National Solar Observatory, that is currently under construction (2017) at the top of the Haleakalā volcano on Maui, Hawaii. With a planned completion date of 2018, it is expected to become the world's largest solar telescope. It is a collaboration of numerous research institutions.
